Gifts for Writers July 29, 2016 – Posted in: Gifts, News – Tags: Gifts, gifts for writers
All of the writer’s we know love to receive book lover’s gifts, but what does that mean exactly?
What do you buy for a writer? Someone else’s book?
Today we’re sharing gifts that writer’s love because we know that sometimes a limited edition or signed copy fits the bill but more often a writer likes to have unique tools of the trade. This means a nice cover for their laptop, a good pen, some stationary or even a collectable typewriter just to display in the house.
Today we’re sharing a few of our personal favorites.
A Leather Edition Macbook Cover
BookBook is made with genuine leather and hand distressed so no two are exactly alike. BookBook Rutledge makes this one-of-a-kind MacBook case even more unique with hand-dyed leather covers that result in a gorgeous sunburst appearance unlike anything you’ve seen before. You can it as a traditional sleeve or use the two soft elastic bands to steady your Mac while you work with it resting inside the case. Dual zippers, with leather bookmark pulls, allow you to charge your MacBook while it’s safely stored inside BookBook.

A Personal Library Embosser
You can really make a crisp impression on all your precious books with an embosser personalized with your name. We know authors who create a limited run of books and then emboss, sign and number each one.

A Good ‘ole Mug
Writers love to sip on their tea or coffee as they work on their next great book and what better way to sip than from a nice classic mug. We have been fans of Le Creuset products for many years because in addition to writing and publishing, we also love to cook and they make the best Dutch ovens! Their mug weighs heavy in the hand so you feel like you are getting a real drink of some inspiration.

A Quality Writing Instrument
We believe that Montblanc makes the finest pens. They are handcrafted little masterpieces and what we love most is that they pay tribute to writers with their special collections. A couple of authors that we’ve helped bring to bestseller status have gotten us these as gifts and they are so special to our hearts. Rollerball, ballpoint or ink, they are all useful and have a time and a place.

A Pen Sleeve
Any good pen needs to be tucked away in a pen sleeve for protection. Protect your favorite pens from nicks and scratches inside your bag or briefcase with the Carezza elegant leather pen pouch. This pen sleeve is fashioned from caressably soft, textured full-grain leather and lined in silky natural suede. So good it makes you want to say “Honey, I shrunk myself..” and climb right in with your favorite pens.

A Cashmere Throw Blanket
Gwyneth Paltrow, who has recently published her third bestseller would tell us, “It’s really hard to go wrong with a cashmere throw blanket.” We agree. A soft and cuddly blanket is perfect for those lazy afternoons when you are curled up with a stack of books, or for those late night writing sessions.

A Good Reading Lamp
Give your favorite writer (or reader) a gift that will help keep their eyes safe by providing the proper illumination necessary for writing and reading. Tired eyes will cause writers to pull away from their work and lose the flow and creativity and we don’t want that to happen.
Our personal favorite comes from Ralph Lauren Home, get it here.
A Messenger Bag
Perfect for the writer who is always on the go, this bag is handcrafted from antique pull up leather. Just like the characters you write, this handsome messenger bag is rich with personality and becomes more your own with every wear and scuff. The beautiful foundry-forged hardware also gives it an antiqued feel and plenty of pockets make organizing all of your essentials a cinch.
Our favorite messenger bag comes from the Frye company, get it here.
A Remington Typewriter
Okay, so not all writers want one, but in the form of decor, what writer wouldn’t love a nicely framed print of this vintage typewriter? This Remington Rand poster print by Clifford Faust (8 X 11) has been reproduced on premium heavy stock paper allowing it to perfectly capture the vivid colors and details of the original.

A Literary T-Shirt
Who doesn’t want to show off their favorite quote, author or literary figure? We’ve found the best place that has over 1,200+ literary themes and 3,000+ book quotes in t-shirts alone (that is not including their sweatshirts, longsleeves, v-necks and more). Express your favorite quote or personality through certain characters and authors.

The Best Gift
The best gift you can get for your favorite writer is to buy their books, leave them reviews, share their author pages, talk about their work, and spread the word.
No matter what you decide to give to your favorite writer, make sure it shows that you understand how hard they work to bring you the stories and information that brings value to your life. Be it through life lessons, a special know-how, sharing an experience or by taking you away from your armchair for a little while, show your favorite author some love.
